Sexual Assault (RAINN)

The organization Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network is focused on the issue of preventing sexual assault and informing the public about the issue. Stories are posted about survivors of sexual abuse and assault. These stories help to inform the public how broad of a topic sexual assault really is. The topic of sexual assault can involve no actual physical penetration, harassment, physical harm without penetration, or penetration itself. This organization allows the public to realize that even if someone was not raped, they can still be sexually assaulted. Information is not only about the different types of sexual violence that occur but also about the aftermath. This website provides different options a victim of sexual assault can use in order to find justice or to prevent sexual assault from occurring again.

Basic information of what a rape kit is and what type of medical attention can be used after a sexual assault can be found as well. There are also therapy options to help survivors cope as well as tips for how to handle sexual assault survivors. Different articles involve how families can help their loved ones who have been sexual assaulted which can prevent a downward spiral towards destructive behavior. If anyone is interested in helping spread the word of sexual assault and the impact it has had on our societies, RAINN has volunteer events, fundraisers, and symposiums that everyone can become involved with in order to help spread news about this issue.
